Chris Evans In Avatar? James Cameron Reveals Captain America Actor's First Choice For The Blockbuster Movie

James Cameron s Avatar features Sam Worthington in the lead. The actor has done a fantastic job in the movie and fans are eager to see more from the franchise. But did you know that Avatar would have been a different presentation if Cameron had gone against choosing Worthington? The filmmaker recently revealed that he was considering Chris Evans to play the lead. The Alita: Battle Angel producer told Empire in a podcast that there were three actors who were shortlisted to play the lead role in 2009 Pandora-set movie and the Captain America star was one of them. Channing Tatum was the third option.

Chris Evans, and Sam, and Channing Tatum. That was my choice. I really liked Channing s appeal. I liked Chris appeal. They were both great guys. But Sam had a quality of voice and a quality of intensity. Everybody did about the same on all the material through the script, except for the final speech where he stands up and says, This is our land, ride now, go as fast as the wind can carry you. That whole thing. I would have followed him into battle. And I wouldn t have followed the other guys. They ve since gone onto fantastic careers and all that, but Sam was ready. He was ready, he revealed.

Imagine if Chris would have bagged Avatar, we might have not got our Captain America. And life would have been completely different.

Meanwhile, Cameron also spilled the beans on Avatar 2. The filmmaker revealed that everything is ready, all the team has to do is shoot. "[Performance-capture] is the vast majority of the characters, and that is the vast majority of the running time of the film. That pesky little live-action component is going to cost me five months of my life, across the two movies, Cameron explained.

Cameron also revealed that the sequel is set to take place few years after the events of Avatar. He also revealed a key scene involving Jake and Neytiri and their daughter. "There s a three-page argument scene between Jake and Neytiri, a marital dispute, very, very critical to the storyline. I wound up shooting it all from the point of view of the eight-year-old hiding under the structure and peeking in, he explained.

Avatar 2 is set to release next Christmas.
