Thalapathy Vijay is undoubtedly the top star of Tamil cinema at the moment and his last two films, Mersal and Sarkar, are proof. However, both the films have had their share of controversies ahead of their releases as well as after them. While Mersal and Sarkar, both ruffled a few feathers in the political brass of Tamil Nadu after releasing, Sarkar faced plagiarism charges ahead of the release. And hindrance seems to be an ongoing feature of Vijay s films. According to latest developments, Canada-based magician Raman Sharma, who helped Vijay learn the magic tricks for Mersal, claims that he is still unpaid for his services in the film. In a series of tweets and videos, Raman Sharma has pointed out that it s been more than 15 months since the film released and he is yet to receive payments for his work in Mersal. Raman Sharma also shared screenshots of his conversation with production house personnel which prove his claims about his payments.

The production house, Thenandal Films, is yet to respond to the claims by Raman Sharma. Mersal was directed by Atlee and stands as the biggest hit in Tamil cinema with a gross collection of more than Rs 180 crores globally. The film holds the record of earning a collection of Rs 50 crore right on the second day of release. And this record was almost broken by Sarkar but it missed out by a day.
