All is not good in the Tamil industry today. Producer Nandagopal, who was behind the Tamil movie 96, has been called out and banned by Tamil cine artistes body Nadigar Sangam. The board raised the red card against the producer after they clear unpaid dues to actors. The Sangam pulled up Madras Enterprises and producer Nandagopal and issued a statement asking members of the committee to not work with him and the producer house.(Also Read: 96 director Prem Kumar SLAMS plagiarism claims by filmmaker Suresh) The statement reads, When a film faces some trouble, many actors agree to take their pending salary later. But this has unfortunately led to a situation where a production company dodges and fails to pay the dues. To start with, we ve requested our members not to collaborate with Madras Enterprises for any of their films. According to an Indian Express report, 96 s lead actor Vijay is also among those actors who haven t received full payment from the producer. The morning shows of 96 got cancelled because of this issue and if Vijay hadn t intervened, the film wouldn t have been released on time. He paid Rs 1.5 crore out of his pocket, a source told the publication. Despite its critical recognition and love from the audience, the Premkumar directorial has been in hot waters ever since it released. Right from the loans accumulated by the producers to accusation that the story of 96 is plagerised, the movie has been facing several issues for a while now. Unfortunately for the movie makers, the movie premiered on television on Diwali even though it is still running in the theatres. The film s TV rights are owned by Sun TV and it was aired on television last week. Although Trisha requested Sun TV to rethink their decision, the channel went ahead with their decision to premiere the movie.
