One of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema is Mahanati! This is no ordinary film as it will chronicle the life of yesteryear actress Savithri. She was one of the biggest superstars of Tollywood in the early era who worked across several languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Fans, critics, celebs are eagerly awaiting the release of this biopic that is all set to narrate the tale of a star’s rise to stardom. As per the latest update, the film has been cleared by the censor board with a U Certificate. It is all set to release on May 9th in Telugu as Mahanati and in Tamil as Nadigaiyar Thilagam. Stepping into Savithri Garu’s shoes, is Keerthy Suresh, a promising actor in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. Nag Ashwin was clear he wnated a fresh face for this titular character. When we caught the first glimpse of Keerthy as Savithri, fans were stunned by the uncanny resemblance. Also, when we caught a glimpse of the actress in the teaser, we couldn’t take our eyes off her as she transformed into a stunning lady with grace and sophistication. Playing Gemini Ganesan, a crucial character in Mahanati’s life is Dulquer Salmaan. He will also be making his debut in Tollywood with this movie. He has in fact dubbed for the first time in Telugu as well. Starring as present days characters Madhuravani and Vijay Anthony are Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Devarakkonda. Reportedly the story will be narrated from Madhuravani’s perspective. The mvoie also stars Naga Chaitanya, Prakash and many others as other important people in Savithri’s life.

This will be the first biopic to release in May 2018. Fans are eagerly awaiting for this true story to unfold on the big screen.
