After 27 years, the Jodi of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor have reunited for a project. The two have shared screen space in blockbusters like Kabhi Kabhi, Amar Akbar Anthony, Ajooba and Naseeb to name a few. Ever since 102 Not Out was announced, we have been treated to some quirky posters featuring the two legends. Today, the official teaser of the film has been unveiled and it is a pleasant surprise. We are treated to two ‘extremely senior’ citizens. On first impressions, they seem to be the best of friends. While one is a carefree, full of life senior citizen, the other one is bogged down by age. It is only later that we come to know that they are father and son duo. With Big B’s character telling Rishi Kapoor that he will be the first father to admit his son in an old age home, we understand that it is a film about the tribulations of senior citizens. The prosthetic and makeup done on Big B and Rishi is quite nice. The best part is that the two characters seem to be identifiable. All of us have a rather zindadil oldie and a somewhat grumpy one in our family. It also presents the trials of old age in an entertaining manner. The feeling of loneliness that plagues everyone.
There are very few films made on old age. A few years back, it was Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s Piku that captured the imagination of the nation. 102 Not Out is written by Saumya Joshi and directed by Umesh Shukla of Oh! My God fame. The director’s last flick All Is Well was a damp squib but it looks like he has regained his mojo with this one. Amitabh Bachchan has also produced and sung a number for the film.
