After flooring us with an amazingly witty performance earlier this year in Hindi Medium, Irrfan Khan returns for an encore in Qarib Qarib Singlle. Directed by Tanuja Chandra of Dushman and Sangharsh fame, the movie marks the Bollywood debut of the talented Malayalam actress Parvathy. The trailer that had come out some time back had impressed us with the quirky romance between Irrfan and Parvathy as well as the dry natural humour, that has become Irrfan’s trademark.

Well, now we have the first song from the movie, called Khatam Kahani. Going by the song’s name, it may give an impression of a heartbreak song. But Khatam Kahani is actually a peppy number that is filled with some really cute moments between the leads. Despite them working together for the first time, Irrfan and Parvathy share an amazing chemistry. There is something about Irrfan that we always overlook. He shares a wonderful chemistry with all actresses he has worked with in a romantic capacity – be it Deepika Padukone in Piku, Saba Qamar in Hindi Medium and now Parvathy in Qarib Qarib Singlle. The song is composed by Vishal Mishra, while he has himself sung the number along with Nooran Sisters. Here’s the video,

Qarib Qarib Singlle is a romcom when two individuals meet, become friends and then travel together, the reasons for which are not exactly made clear. Parvathy is playing a Malayali who has been single for a long time, while Irrfan’s character will remind you of what he played in Life…in A Metro, as well as in Hindi Medium. The director Tanuja Chandra has this to say about the movie, “Qarib Qarib Singlle is a contemporary love story of two people who embark upon an unusual journey which becomes a mad adventure. I’ve made plenty violent thrillers – now onto to something that’s slice of life and fun!

The movie is scheduled to release on November 10.
