Our reviewer, Gaurang Chauhan, is currently watching the movie and this is what he has to say about the first half…

“Baadshaho marks the return of the heist genre that has been missing from films for quite some time now. Starring Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta, Vidyut Jammwal, Sanjay Mishra and Sharad Kelkar, the film is directed by Milan Luthria. Fans and movie buffs are also excited for the release of Baadshaho because it marks the reunion of the successful trio of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai – Milan Luthria, Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn. I am done through the first half of the film, so let’s find out how it fared in the first half…

The film starts two years before the infamous emergency and shows a politician who goes by the name of Sanjeev (Sanjay Gandhi?) who has a face-off of sorts with Rani Geetanjali. This leads him to seize her gold during the Emergency and arrests her. She then takes the help of her bodyguard cum lover of the past, Bhawani Singh. Bhawani gives her his word and gathers a band of misfits to steal the gold from tough army man, Seher Singh. Rest of the first is all about planning and plotting about the great heist. The plot slows down at various junctures but it is Emraan Hashmi’s shenanigans that keep you engrossed. And the twist at the interval point is bound to keep you at the edge of your seat. I so didn’t see that coming. In fact the interval point lifts the intrigue factor of the film.
