It is a well-known fact in Bollywood that there are three movies being made on the Battle of Saragarhi. Rajkumar Santoshi was making his version with Randeep Hooda in the lead, though there have been not many updates on the shoot. Then Ajay Devgn was planning to make a movie on the same, after which Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar announced that they are also making a movie on the same subject. While there have been not much developments on both the projects after the grand announcements, it was rumoured that Karan Johar will be starting the movie, now called Kesar, very soon.

However, Ajay Devgn is quite unfazed about this news, as he believes his movie will be bigger than their version. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, he revealed more details about the project, especially as to why it is taking time, “We are working on the script but it won’t happen for another two years because of the scale of the project. The designing of such films is different. What people usually do is first shoot, then get into CGI. But technically, to reach the desired standards, you have to get into CGI first, shoot and then go back to the CGI. We’re going through that process with both Tanaji and Battle of Saragarhi. I plan to go beyond Shivaay with both these films.”

So when he was asked whether he was concerned about Karan Johar beginning Kesar before him, Ajay replied, “I’m not worried about any other film. The kind of scale we are attempting is on another level altogether. That’s why it will take three to four years to complete.”

He also revealed more about the Tanaji Malusare biopic, which he confesses to being a huge project as well. He said, “That’s an ambitious project. If you read about Tanaji, you will realise what a hero he was. Apart from being a great fighter, his emotional story was amazing. When Om (Raut, director) narrated it, I was taken aback. It’s being designed as one of the biggest films ever attempted. Work has already begun to recreate the period, in six months we should start shooting.”

Wait, there is more! Ajay Devgn will also be looking at starting his third directorial after Tanaji Malusare. He said, “I’m working on another script for a third directorial, which will roll once I’m done with Tanaji and begin another film towards the end of 2018 or early 2019.”
