Even before Sushant Singh Rajput goes to space, there is Jayam Ravi trying to steal that honour from him by making India’s first space movie, Tik Tik Tik. The movie is directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, who earlier made Miruthan, what was Tamil movie’s first foray into zombie territory. Interestingly, even Jayam Ravi played the lead in Miruthan as well. Nivetha Pethuraj and Ramesh Thilak form the part of the supporting cast.

The first poster that had come out earlier had Jayam Ravi in a space suit and helmet flying around in space with an unexplained explosion behind him, and he is trying to rectify the situation. The poster received a lot of criticism for being a badly photoshopped job, as it was clearly seen that they had just pasted Jayam Ravi’s face inside the helmet. So to avoid more criticism, it seems, the makers have released a new poster that has a helmetless Jayam Ravi and his team of fellow astronauts, including Pethuraj and Thilak, in that. For some reason, Jayam Ravi looks very angry. Is it me or does the star look uncomfortable in that space suit? The background looks like it’s made out of a camera filter from Camera360 app. Also the poster did remind me of Michael Bay’s Armageddon, that starred Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck, which was about a team of oil drillers sent to space to drill a nuclear bomb in an asteroid that is supposed to collide and decimate Earth.

Tik Tik Tik was also the name of a 1981 thriller starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role. But here’s what a source revealed about bagging the permission to use the title, “It will be a one-of-its-kind thriller in Indian film industry. The audience can relate to the title while watching the film. The makers have acquired the requisite permission to use this title. The project will go on floors in October, and a huge set will be erected in Chennai.”

Jayam Ravi will also be playing the lead in Sundar C’s Sangamithra which is supposed to be one of India’s most expensive movies made till date.
