From the moment Veere Di Wedding has been announced, it went through a lot. Kareena Kapoor‘s pregnancy threatened to derail the film and later it was said that the film went overbudget. But this week, Ekta Kapoor took to instagram to make an official announcement that the film will get made as is expected with Kareena and Sonam Kapoor in it. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Ekta revealed, “There’s a funny back-story here. Veere is an expensive film and after what my company went through last year, I was not sure whether I would be on-board.Rhea and I met to shake hands and not work together, but it is such a fabulous script that my heart is set on it. It is the first film on girl-bonding, the first young film on sisterhood in India, after several stories on boys like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. I have been a part of Veere Di Wedding from its inception and I can tell you, it will be a cult film. I want to be out there promoting an all-woman cast.”

Talking about the losses her company incurred lately, Ekta opened up saying, “Last year was really bad for us in films so I am no longer one of the aforementioned players in the business. I have no qualms about admitting it. It was a conscious decision. I am not equipped to weather big losses because I don’t sell my films to multi-national companies. I seem like a quasi-studio, but in reality, I am actually a production house that made money on television. I don’t have international backing. A flop affects me more and I don’t have the sustaining power to wait for four-five years to cover my losses. I can’t write off my losses even for a year.”

Clearly, Ekta wanted the film to be made and went on with it. Trust us, we are glad. Enough with bromance… we need some chick flicks too!
