One of Bollywood’s most popular actors – Vinod Khanna is no more.  It was only a few weeks that he had been discharged from the hospital. He was 70 when he passed away. ‘Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr. Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma.’ stated the hospital in an official statement. He was an actor who stormed Bollywood in the 80s and 70s. Despite his debonair looks he started off as the bad guy in Sunil Dutt’s Man Ka Meet. His tryst with Villainy continued in many more films  – Purab Aur Paschim, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, and Mastana, to name a few. His dacoit role in Purab and Paschim especially caught everyone’s attention.  Three years later, he he turned for the first time in Hum Tum Aur Hum Woh. This was followed by two hit movies – Mere Apne where his angry young act and his performance as an army officer in Achanak were hugely praised. His lead solo act followed in movies like Farebi, Hatyara, Qaid, Zalim to name a few. Then there were other successful films like – Gaddaar, Adha Din Aadhi Raat , Qurbaani, The Burning Train.

After a string of successful films, he left the industry for five years to follow his spiritual guru – Osho. When he returned, he continued to cast a spell on us with movies like Chandni and Jurm. He was most recently seen in Shah Rukh khan’s Diwale. He is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, his four children – Rahul and Akshaye from his first marriage and Sakshi and Shraddha from his second.
