Hey CBFC, Sonakshi Sinha Wants You To Come To A ‘consensus’ While Censoring Films

By now we all know about Censor Board’s shenanigans. Any movie that is passed for certification always falls prey to either editing out scenes or words or references. Well, it gets really annoying. Sonakshi Sinha’s Noor is no different. After the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded that Noor makers edit a reference to veteran journalist Barkha Dutt in the film, its leading lady Sonakshi says the censor body needs to have a uniform approach towards movies. In Noor, Sonakshi plays a journalist who idolises Barkha Dutt, but the CBFC has asked the makers to edit the surname Dutt.

When asked about it, Sonakshi told IANS: “The censor board really needs to come to a consensus within themselves on what is right in one film… Is not right in another film.” “There is no consistency in what they censor or what they uncensor, so I think they first need to come to a consensus.”

This is getting quite tiring, Censor Board. On numerous occasions, celebrities, journalists and people in general have voiced their concerns over the kind of censoring done by the board. Their role is still questionable as aren’t they just supposed to certify a film suitable for a specific kind of audience? Then why is there always so much fuss regarding the same? Well, this is something we may never understand. Hopefully, Noor won’t have to go through a lot. The second trailer of the film has released, in case you folks didn’t know. It’s just as interesting as the first one. Although there’s not much that has been revealed, this is the second film that has Sona has the lead protagonist after Akira. Luckily, it doesn’t have any clash so with a clear release, we wonder what kind of opening it will receive.

Directed by Sunhil Sippy, the crime thriller comedy is an adaptation of Pakistani novel Karachi, You’re Killing Me! by Saba Imtiaz. The novel centres around a 20-year-old reporter Ayesha Khan, living in Karachi, and her misadventures and finding a nice lover.

Stay tuned to this space for hot scoop and latest updates. Also, do tell us if you’ll go to watch Noor!
