Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma‘s Commando 2 released on March 3 and while it opened decently, the movie has failed to pass the Monday litmus test. Commando 2 could rake in just Rs 2.24 crore on day 4, thereby taking its total box office tally to Rs 17.99 crore. With 2200 screens at its disposal, collecting such a meagre amount on the first Monday is not good enough. Talking about the detailed 4-day collections, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Commando2 Fri 5.14 cr, Sat 4.42 cr, Sun 6.19 cr, Mon 2.24 cr. Total: Rs 17.99 cr. India biz… Hindi + Tamil + Telugu versions.”
The low buzz before release has obviously affected the movie. But it was the dismal reviews that affected it even more. While a small section of the audience liked the movie, majority of the people felt the prequel, Commando, was much better. This mixed word-of-mouth publicity has obviously led to the major dip that the film witnessed on day 4. Check out what the audience had to say in the video right here:
Film critics weren’t impressed by the movie too! Our reviewer, Ankita Chaurasia mentioned in her review, “If you love an action film, Commando 2: The Black Money Trail will disappoint you. Barring two good action sequences, the film is all talk.” Film critic Rajeev Masand also mentioned in his review that the movie was “pointless,” while critic and author – Anupama Chopra mentioned, “Commando 2 – The Black Money Trail is one of those fabulously foolish films that make you laugh and groan at the same time.” ALSO READ – Vidyut Jammwal’s Commando 2 is no match for Hugh Jackman’s Logan over the first weekend
With such disappointing reviews, obviously the movie will see a further dip throughout the week. And looking at the current trends, we expect the movie to end its run when Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt‘s Badrinath Ki Dulhania releases this Friday.
