Nandamuri‘s 100th film is finally here! After watching Chiranjeevi‘s mass entertainer,  I was all set to watch this much talked-about historical drama. But what I wasn’t prepared for the crazy fan fervour. I saw a glimpse of it,  at Chiranjeevi’s film yesterday but today they were shouting slogans,  ‘Jai Balayya!’ with all their might. It was sheer madness. Have heard of crazy, fanatic fans,  saw them in action today. Gautamiputra Satakarni is about a 2nd century ruler from the Satvanhana dynasty. An unsung hero they call him.  The movie is about his life,  family and his conquests that may have faded out from the pages of history,  but it is an important chapter in History that must be known to all.  Nandamuri as Satakarni is fearless,  extremely skilled and believes only in winning. He takes on the enemy head on with courage and valour in his heart.

Balayya’s entry scene is nothing short of epic as he makes an appearance with a sword in hand in a regal avatar on the enemy’s ship  He let’s everyone know who Satakarni is as he rips them apart! As one of the dialogues goes- he is the true Telugu Simham (Lion) .  Look out for a lot of bloodshed in this movie (no wonder it got a U/A certificate. After his win,  we are taken to his palace where he welcomes his wife,  Vashishta Devi and his two children, a son and daughter. Vashistadevi is a beautiful, sensual woman who has a mind of her own. When she gets to know,  their son has to be taken to the battle field to fights against a crucial kingdom, she is devastated. She even dares to contest the King Satakarni’s decision, but their son cannot escape this. Satakarni’s army is ready for the battle, but the enemy has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. They get off to a good start as they strike out the soldiers Satakarni’s army. But Satakarni has never known to lose, there’s this one scene where he climbs across a broken wall,  through the fire and finally enters the enemy’s terrain. What a phenomenal scene!  It got me whistling too. He slashes off his enemy left,right and centre. At the end of it,  the lion has won again! Krish is nothing short of a genius! Every scene takes your breath away with its rich visuals. Honestly, I am falling short of words for this spectacular film I am watching. Nandamuri is brilliant in his restrained yet powerful performance. His chemistry with Shriya Saran will definitely be a topic of discussion. Can’t wait to find out what happens next.
