Not only Akshay Kumar, these 5 Bollywood actors also debuted as villains down south

The biggest excitement this week has been 2.0’s first look launch. It’s all set to be a grand event at Yashraj Studio on 20 November. Apart from the Film starring Rajinikanth, the superstar, another big highlight is Akshay Kumar’s Tamil debut as a villain. Yes, in his first film itself he gets to have a face off with the Thalaiva! Moreover, the first poster also featured the Bollywood biggie along with the Tamil star. He plays Dr Richards who turns into a crow as a result of a wrong experiment.

While not eveyrone gets a chance like this one, it’s not first time a Bollywood actor has debuted as a villain down south.

Neil Nitin Mukesh 

He played the famous antagonist opposite Vijay in Kaththi and boy, he did a brilliant job. He was your typical smooth suave villain that you grow to almost respect. And can you believe it, he dubbed in Tamil for his role. He was all praises for Vijay who he believes was very secure as  an actor. In fact, in an interview with a leading portal, he even attributes the success of his role to Vijay –  “If it weren’t for Vijay, my character wouldn’t have probably shaped the way it has.”

Sharad Kelkar 

Sharad Kelkar made his Telugu Debut as a villain in Sardar Gabbar Singh 2. The film also starred Power star Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan. Imagine in his first film itself, he got to have a face off with the power star! After the makers saw his performance in a serial, they finalised on him.

Irrfan Khan 

In a 2006 Telugu film – Sainikudu opposite Mahesh Babu, Irrfan made his Telugu debut as the antagonist. The film also starred Trisha.

Sonu Sood 

Many might not know this but Sonu Sood ventured into the Telugu industry as a villain in Hands up! The movie also starred Nageswara Rao, Chiranjeevi. It’s about two policemen who fall for the same senior official and what they do to win her over.

Rahul Dev 

He made his stellar debut in Champion as the villain. In fact, in his first film itself he got his break as an actor. He was also nominated for Filmfare Best Villain category in 2001.
