Joab is about to conquer the City of Waters, Rabbah, and sends messengers to fetch David so he can finish it off, thereby taking the credit. The hefty, 34kg Crown becames David’s. The symbolism of David taking the crown of the enemy can been seen in a postive light, but the whole context following his horrendous fall into sin at Jerusalem makes it a bit unsettling for me.
