One Piece fans always look forward to anything new that Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the series, might introduce in the future. That includes insane power-ups and transformations that the characters get from time to time, including
Luffy’s Gear Transformations.

Luffy has managed to attain and master 5 transformations yet, with the latest one being Gear 5. Fans also eagerly wait for Episode 1071 to be finally released tomorrow, i.e. August 6th which is going to showcase Luffy Gear 5’s for the first time ever in anime.

Fans Await Luffy Gear 6

Eiichiro Oda is infamous for introducing changes to the story that might just change the entire narration of the plot for the past 25 years. One such example is how it was recently revealed the paramecia-type devil fruit Gomu Gomu Ni was formerly known as Hito Hito No Mi Model: Nika fruit which grants its user the abilities of the legendary sun god, Nika.

The unveiling of Luffy Gear 5 in his fight against Kaido, one of the former emperors of the sea, is also something which took fans by surprise. It is often years before we get to see a new transformation for our hero, and this hints to us towards when we might get to see Luffy in his Gear 6 form.

It is, for now, uncertain if Oda chooses to unveil Luffy Gear 6 in the One Piece series anytime soon if he even decides to make it in the first place. Looking at the mangaka’s track record, it might just be a few more years before it is revealed.

One can also argue that his tendency to take the viewers by surprise can also be a factor in play here, contradicting our theory of the creator taking another few years before he reveals anything, instead he just might do it soon enough, maybe next year, leaving everybody in shock.

Luffy Gear 5 Techniques And Abilities In One Piece Explained

As discussed before, the main protagonist of the series, Monkey D.Luffy actually got his powers from the paramecia type devil fruit Gomu Gomu Ni.

However, it was recently revealed that the world government was trying to hide the fact that the fruit was instead Hito Hito No Mi Model : Nika. The fruit is said to grant the powers of the legendary sun god Nika to whoever who eats it, which explains a lot of questions from where does Luffy’s abilities originate from which were not answered before.

Luffy in his Gear 5 transformation is also said to pay a resemblance to Nika himself, the transformation also gives him an extremely rubbery body as well as the power to manipulate his environment to his advantage.

This new power of Luffy grants him a huge arsenal of abilities which he did not have before, these were used to finally defeat Kaido after much struggle. Luffy also claims this transformation to be his “Peak” in the recent teaser for Episode 1071 released on YouTube.
