One Piece has managed to be the center of attention for the past 20+ years through its amazing writing of characters and story building. The main protagonist of the show, called Luffy has been a fan favorite since the time he was first introduced, he is known for his being his own goofy self not caring about anything while being insanely overpowered with over-the-top abilities, techniques, haki control, and transformations. One such transformation we got to see last year in the manga was Gear 5, which now has an animated episode set to release on August 6th,2023.

What Is The Luffy Gear 5 Transformation?

As one may guess by the name, it is Luffy’s transformation fifth in succession to Gear 1,2,3, and 4. This transformation is made possible by the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika fruit, which was formerly known as Gomu Gomu Ni.

This paramecia-type fruit grants its users the ability of the legendary Sun God Nika which includes having an extremely rubber body allowing the user to stretch their body in a way never imagined before. It also grants the ability to manipulate the user’s environment to their advantage, something which we have seen Luffy do.

Luffy’s Abilities In Gear 5

Luffy has quite a large arsenal to be put to his use when in Gear 5 transformation, this puts him at an advantage over his opponents.

This was also observed during his fight with Kaido, one of the former emperors of the sea, where he was finally able to defeat Kaido in the end by overwhelming him through his Gear 5 abilities, sending him crashing to the ground.

Some of his abilities include Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket, Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun, which was used to finally defeat Kaido.

It has been nearly a year now since Gear 5 once started to catch the hype train amongst the fans, and now everybody awaits eagerly for it to finally release of episode 1071 on August 6th, 2023.
