There is a cold emptiness in the air. The crisp darkness is thick and all encompassing. It seems that a little colour is required to penetrate the infinite gloom.

A soundbite catches my eye as I search for something to listen to. It lifts my mood. 'Candy Thrash'... That sounds awful enough to be good.

I download 'Cokefloat!' a shamelessly straightforward and personal album from PAWS, a Glaswegian trio whose influences appear to represent a well loved and dusty recess within my record collection. I like this band. I like their honesty. I like the way manage to be both bright and dark simultaneously. I like their tilted cap to Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Teenage Fan Club.
