Sole Seekers captures UK Trainer Culture – #whatsyourfavouritetrainer

Last year we met up with Emil Collins (Emil Socialize), Writer, Producer and Director of the UK’s first ever feature length documentary on UK trainer culture called ‘SOLE SEEKERS’.

If like us you’re us and were blessed to grow up in the 80’s and 90’s when music was dope and summertime actually lasted a whole 6 weeks, then it’s quite possible that trainers have always had a special place in your childhood and teenage years. Think – the nostalgia, history and passion that they generate.

Some of us grew out of it, but Emil certainly didn’t and he’s not alone; this is why he made this film. The more he researched, the more he realised it wasn’t just him.

I started this project 4 years ago out of sheer passion as there was nothing out there globally that recognised or even acknowledged the UK’s trainer culture and what it means to us. Back then our history wasn’t documented, catalogued or instantly available as it is now. – Emil Socialize
