  • AO.com have reported a 12.3% increase in group sales for the three months to 31 December 2016. UK sales increased by 8.9% for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)
  • Argos have reported a 4.1% increase in total sales for the 15 weeks to 7 January 2017. Like-for-like sales increased by 4.0% for the same period.
  • ASOS have reported a 30.0% (constant currency) increase in group sales to £621.3m for the four months to 31 December 2016. Retail sales increased by 30.0% (constant currency) while UK retail sales increased by 18% (constant currency) for the same period.

  • Boohoo.com have reported a 52.0% (constant exchange rate) increase in total sales to £73.7m for the four months to 31 December 2016. UK sales increased by 31.0% (constant exchange rate) to £49.7m for the same period.
  • Booker Group have reported a 2.9% increase in sales for the 16 weeks to 30 December 2016. Like-for-like sales increased by 3.2% for the same period.
  • Booths have reported a 1.8% increase in total sales to £10.0m for the three weeks to 07 January 2017. Like-for-like sales increased by 2.6% for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)
  • Boux Avenue have reported a 16.6% increase in like-for-like sales for the six weeks to 24 December 2016.

  • Debenhams have reported a 3.7% increase in group gross transaction value (GTV) sales for the 18 weeks to 07 January 2017. Group like-for-like sales increased by 0.5% (constant currency) while online sales increased by 13.9% for the same period.
  • Dunelm have reported a 6.6% increase in total revenue to £261.9m for the 13 weeks to 31 December 2016. Like-for-like sales (combining LFL stores and Home Delivery) increased by 0.2% for the same period.
  • The Entertainer have reported a 13.5% increase in total sales for the five weeks to 31 December 2016. Like-for-like sales increased by 2.6% while online sales increased by 31.7% for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)

  • Gear4music have reported a 55.0% increase in total sales for the four months to 31 December 2016. UK sales increased by 29.0% for the same period.

  • The John Lewis Partnership have reported a 4.9% increase in total sales to £1,913.0m for the six weeks to 31 December 2016. Waitrose have reported a 4.8% increase in gross sales (excluding fuel) to £914.9m, with like-for-like sales increasing by 2.8% for the same period. John Lewis have reported a 4.9% increase in gross sales to £998.1m, with like-for-like increasing by 2.7% for the same period.
  • Joules have announced a 22.8% increase in total retail sales for the seven week to 08 January 2017.

  • Sainsbury’s have reported a 0.8% increase in total retail sales (excluding fuel) for the 15 weeks to 07 January 2017. Like-for-like retail sales increased by 0.1% (excluding fuel) for the same period.
  • Shoe Zone have reported a 4.2% decrease in revenue to £159.8m for the 52 weeks to 01 October 2016. Profit before tax stood at £10.3m for the same period.
  • Superdrug have reported a 7.2% increase in like-for-like sales for the five week to 2 January 2017. Online sales increased by 47.0% for the same period. (Source: Retail Week)
  • Supergroup have reported an 31.1% increase in group sales to £334.0m for the 26 weeks to 29 October 2016. Retail sales increased by 25.0% to £215.2m while like-for-like sales increased by 12.8% for the same period. Wholesale sales increased by 43.8% to £118.8m.

  • Ted Baker have announced a 10.6% (constant currency) increase in retail sales for the 08 weeks to 07 January 2017. E-commerce sales increased by 31.0% (constant currency) for the same period.
  • Tesco have reported a 0.2% increase in total group sales (constant rates, excluding fuel) for the six weeks to 07 January 2017. UK sales increased by 0.1% (constant rates, excluding fuel) while UK like-for-like sales increased by 0.7% for the same period.
  • Tesco have also reported a 1.5% increase in group like-for-like sales for the 13 weeks to 26 November 2016. UK like-for-like increased by 1.8% for the same period.
  • Morrisons have reported a 2.0% increase in total sales (excluding fuel) for the nine weeks to 01 January 2017. Like-for-like sales (excluding fuel) increased by 2.9% for the same period.
  • Topps Tiles have reported a 0.3% increase in like-for-like revenues for the 13 weeks to 31 December 2016.

Lifestyle bounced back from a negative result last week to post LFL growth of +5.55%. While only 47% of respondents Reported positive results, 88% of those that did reported double digit growth, primarily seen amongst the gift retailers, and some outdoor goods retailers and department stores.

Fashion LFLs were up by +2.59% this week off of an already strong base of +6.8% for the same week last year. With discounting in full swing, 45% of respondents reported positive growth this week, of which 53% saw double digit growth.

Homeware LFLs rebounded from a negative result last week to post growth of +10.80% this week. Strong sales growth from some furniture retailers and department stores boosted the result this week.

Non-store LFLs were up by +20.0% this week, building on a strong base of +25.7% for the same week last year. As shoppers took advantage of discounting, 100% of respondents for homeware reported positive online growth, as compared to 54% for lifestyle and 61% for fashion.

Clothing, Footwear & Accessories
