The photograph here depicts Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa or The Great Swan as was his name among the commoners and elites, at one of his heightened states of consciousness, when he could connect to the Cosmos he refereed to as Ma or Mother which he saw in the pagan deity of Ma Kali, a Goddess of Destruction and Creation. As has been photographed and recorded by various progressive contemporary individuals, some of whom were cynic at first but latter became a die hard devotee of this officially illiterate mystic sadhu, during such prolonged Spiritual trance Ramakrishna's body would take such a posture as shown above.

The pictures above are of Mr. Li Hongzhi, a master of Tao and Chi , who has developed an advanced Practice of Buddha school self-cultivation called Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong). It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance)—is the foundation of practice. Practice is guided by these supreme qualities, and based on the very laws which underlie the development of the cosmos.”
The exercise that Mr. Li is seen demostrating is called "The Buddha Stretching a Thousand Arms", where slow and gradual movements are made along with steady but slow stretch, with a objective of a hinderless flow of energy through out the body. The stretches open up the points of locked energies. Thereby one find oneness with nature and cosmos and thus transcends to higher level of consciousness.
THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS BOTH THE INDIVIDUALS ABOVE SHOWN REPRESENT A VERY DIFFERENT TIME AND THOUGHT FRAME, HOWEVER AS IT'S ALWAYS SAID THAT THE TRUTH IS SIMPLE AND EVERLASTING; AND SO IS THE STANCE THAT THEY BOTH ATTAIN TO OPEN UP THEIR LIMITED BOUNDARIES TO THE EVER EXTENDING BOUNDARIES OF THE COSMOS..SS
