Spicy smash(ভর্তা) are very special in Bengali culture. so we are giving some recipes of spicy smash.
Potato Spicy Smash (আলু ভর্তা)
Ingredients:
2-3 medium size potato
2 tablespoons mustard oil
4-5 cloves garlic
2-3 red chili
1/4 onion, thinly sliced
Salt to taste

Steps:
- Roast garlic and chili on stove top or in the oven.
- Boil potato until soft.
- Peel boiled potato and smoothly mash.
- Mash/paste garlic, chili and salt together. Add onion.
- Add mashed potato.
- Add oil and mix well.
Notes :
- This is the most original way of Bangladeshi potato spicy smash.
- Onion can be sauteed in a pan until translucent and golden, if you cannot stand raw potato. This gives a bit different but delicious potato spicy smash as well.
- Adjust chili and garlic according to taste.
Eggplant Spicy Smash (বেগুন ভর্তা)
Ingredients:
1 medium eggplant
2 tablespoons mustard oil
4-5 cloves garlic
2-3 red chili
1/4 onion, thinly sliced
Cilantro
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons mustard oil
4-5 cloves garlic

Steps:
1. burn eggplant by moving on the stoves until it fully roasted.
2.Mash/paste garlic, chili and salt together. Add onion.
3.Add roasted eggplant and mash together. Add cilantro.
4.Add oil and mix well.
Red Lentil Spicy Smash (মসুর ডাল ভর্তা)
Ingredients:
1 cup lentil
2 tablespoons mustard oil
4-5 cloves garlic
2 green chili
1/4 onion, thinly sliced
Cilantro
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons mustard oil
4-5 cloves garlic
2 green chili
1/4 onion, thinly sliced
Cilantro
Salt to taste
Steps:
- Boil lentil in 1 ½ cup water until tender and all liquid is dried up.
- Roast garlic and chili on stove top or in the oven.
- Mash/paste garlic, chili and salt together. Add onion.
- Add cooked dal.
- Add oil, cilantro and mix well.
Notes :
- If you need to add more water for the lentil to cook, add water in quarter cup increment.
