5 Important Facts About Your Ford Factory Warranty

If you've recently purchased a new Ford you probably realized there is a lot of important information in your Ford factory warranty (not to be confused with an extended warranty, if you're looking for information on those go to a site like this). The coverage starts the day you take your vehicle home from the dealership. The good news is you are not required to pay for repairs that are covered by the warranty during the stated coverage period. You may, however, have to pay a tax on a portion of warranty repairs.

Sometimes Ford offers a special adjustment program to pay for all or part of the cost for certain repairs beyond the terms of the warranty. The warranty does not by any means indicate that each Ford vehicle is defect free. Five Ford warranty facts you should know are listed below.

  • The emissions performance warranty coverage requires Ford to repair, replace, or adjust, at no charge for labor, diagnosis, or part, emissions control devices or systems. You must meet specific conditions including maintaining and operating your vehicle according to the instructions in the Owner’s Manual.
  • The new vehicle limited warranty and the emissions warranties apply overseas if you bought your car through the Ford Export Operations Military Sales Program, or if Ford stateside sold or leased it to you. The latter condition also requires that the car be originally registered/licensed and operated in the United States.
  • The Ford manufacturer includes coverage on most of a cars systems and components during the full term of the warranty. If a time comes when you need to determine if it is still covered you can contact your local Ford dealer.
  • Several types of damage are not covered under the new vehicle limited warranty. Some of them are: 1. Accidents, collisions or when an object strikes your car. 2. Theft or vandalism. 3. A fire or if your car explodes. 4. Chemicals that are intentionally applied. 4. Driving through a flood. 5. Installation or use of non-Ford Motor Company parts. 6. Surface rust deterioration and paint damage. 7.Cars that have had the odometer disconnected or altered.
  • Ford provides a Roadside Assistance Program that is separate from the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. It becomes valid on the warranty start date and last for five years or 60,000 miles. They have a toll-free roadside assistance number that you can call 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

A new vehicle limited warranty grants you specific legal rights and you may have other rights that vary from state to state. You will meet the coverage conditions if: 1.your Ford vehicle is operated and maintained properly. 2. If you take it to a Ford dealership for a warranted repair during the warranty period. An authorized Ford Motor Company dealer will not charge you for repairing, replacing or adjusting the parts of your vehicle that malfunction or fail during regular use within the applicable coverage period.
