Help Huss Brewing Open A Tap Room In Phoenix

So, how would YOU like to help Huss Brewing open a tap room in Phoenix? Yes, you!

Apparently, there’s some people who don’t want the brewer to open their newest location at Uptown Plaza in Phoenix. To be honest, I was pretty surprised to hear that some of the residents don’t want Huss Brewing to come to the area. In fact, I thought it was pretty much a done deal.

Back in August when I first heard of Huss moving to Central and Camelback I thought it sounded like a really great fit for the area. The Uptown Plaza is a cool location close to the Central and Camelback light rail station and is even the new home to the first Lou Malnati’s in Phoenix. Can you say pizza and beer?

See the info below that I read on the Huss Brewing Instagram today. Help ’em out if you think it would be a good idea to have some more awesome beer flowing in the PHX…

THE FUTURE OF CRAFT BEER IN PHOENIX IS IN JEOPARDY – and we need your help!
Hi Uptown Phoenix Residents,
We’re the Huss’ Family, and we cannot wait to get to know each and every one of you when we open our new taproom at Uptown Plaza on Central & Camelback in Early 2017. We’re going to be a place for families of all ages, responsibly serving incredible craft beer made with love. But before we can do that, we need your help.
Between now and this coming Wednesday, December 7th, we need anyone who supports locally owned businesses, the craft beer movement, or the simple idea that Uptown Phoenix is better because of unique, driven, passionate businesses that serve the communities they reside in; to call in & show up in support of Huss Brewing at Uptown Plaza:
1. Place a call or send an email of support to Councilwoman Laura Pastor’s office in support: 602-262-7447
[email protected]
2. Place a call or send an email of support to Mayor Greg Stanton’s office in support: 602-262-7111 [email protected]
3. Attend the City Council hearing this Wednesday, December 7th at 2:30PM. Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson.
4. If you live anywhere within the city limits of Phoenix – contact your local City Council-member in support of Huss https://www.phoenix.gov/mayorcouncil/find-my-council-district
There is a contingent of residents opposing the opening of our taproom inside Uptown Plaza, an iconic shopping center that’s served you with restaurants, bars, retail, and grocery for 60 plus years. – Despite the efforts by the City of Phoenix to “Reinvent Phoenix” by supporting walkable, culture-rich districts…
– Despite the stewardship that our partners at Vintage Partners have shown to refurbish Uptown Plaza as a reflection of the neighborhood it resides in…
– Despite the outpouring of support we’ve received since we announced plans to join the community… We desperately need you to voice your support in these final days and these specific ways; so that we can bring Huss Brewing at Uptown Plaza to life!

If you have never been to Huss Brewing in south Tempe, you might want to go check it out. Nice people + good beer = a pretty good combination. One of my favorites is the Koffee Kolsch. It’s *really* good. In fact, there’s always some in my fridge at home. Hopefully, our Phoenix friends will have another place to enjoy it early in 2017.
