Repurposing Your Content on SlideShare

I’m an evangelist for repurposing your content on Slideshare. I myself have gotten out the habit because you’re lulled into believing the only social network that really counts is Facebook.

But SlideShare, owned by LinkedIn, will attract many new visitors to your blog and website. My 10 uploads have generated over 25,000 views.

My “best selling” presentation Employing Employees as Brand Advocates has gotten 10,794 views and been downloaded 150 times and embedded in other blogs and websites. Those are big numbers driving more potential visitors to my blog. But I’m just a novice compared to Leslie Samuel, the author of becomeablogger.com. In just three months his How to Become a Thought Leader in Your Niche has generated over 230,000 views!

So I decided it was time to repurpose some of my content. List posts are the easiest to do so I took the content from my post of a few weeks ago about how to conduct a Successful Webinar, and turned into a slide show Preparation and Practice are Key to a Successful Webinar.

Here is the slide show, which received 30 views in its first half hour on Slide-Share.

Saving Money

I decided that I would only use Creative Common images and not incur the cost of buying the licenses for 10 images. Creative Commons is a helpful website that enables you to search for free images, music and video on sites like Google Images and YouTube.

I usually buy my images from Fotolia and hadn’t known about this other valuable resource. One caveat is that you have to wade through a lot of dreck – you get what you pay for.

Improve Your Search Results

SlideShare claims it is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations. With 70 million visitors and over 18 million uploads in 40 content categories, it is one of the top 100 most-visited websites in the world.

SlideShare will improve your search results as Google and other search engines scan SlideShare for content like any other social network.

You can post your SlideShare presentations to your social networks like Twitter and Facebook and also upload your them to your LinkedIn account. These networks will in turn send you more visitors.

Like other networks, you can leave comments, “Like” a presentation and follow other members. If you’re a member and I follow you, I will receive an email when you upload a new presentation.

I invite you to follow me on SlideShare and let me know if you have an account so that I can reciprocate.
