A three-day hike beginning at the small village of Pancasila near Calabai takes you through dense rain forest and on to the huge and awesome crater.

Tambora Utara (North) Wildlife Reserve (80,000 ha) and Tambora Selatan (South) Hunting Park (30,000 ha.) are two protected sites located in the north-west of Bima Peninsular. Deer and wild pigs can be found here.
