Giant wrought-iron teapots, knee-hugging rabbits and iridescent feathers are Renaturing Nature in London

A giant wrought-iron teapot, a huge rabbit seemingly hugging its knees and hundreds of iridescent blue feathers, spilling out of a fireplace – these are just some of the incredible artworks on display at a new group exhibition in London.

Renaturing Nature at St. James’s Square and Hignell Gallery in Mayfair brings together works by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, British artists Kate MccGwire, Peter Randall-Page RA and Sophie Ryder, and German-Canadian artist Vanessa Paschakarnis.

We love Joana Vasconcelos’ large-scale wrought-iron teapot titled Te Danzante (2018) which will be shown for the first time in London. Bronze sculpture Aussie Earl (1996) by Sophie Ryder, whose surface comprises a mosaic of machine parts, toys and memorabilia, will also be on view outdoors.

Indoors at Hignell Gallery, Renaturing Nature will feature Kate MccGwire’s Slick (2010), made of iridescent feathers from the wings of magpies and reminiscent of mythical creatures. This will be exhibited alongside a new series of the artist’s award-winning cabinet sculptures which have been created especially for the show.

Further works on view include Peter Randall-Page RA’s Rain Cloud Screen I and II (2015) which encapsulates his interest in natural forms and patterns; and Vanessa Pashakarnis’ monumental Crane Flies (2015) which will be shown in the UK for the first time.

Renaturing Nature launches on 21 June. Find out more at hignellgallery.com.
