I Ate the Last Cookie

Yes, I ate the last cookie!

Not only did I eat “The Last Cookie”, I brought the bag in from the grocery store, took it straight to MY room and, hid it from everybody’s line-of-vision. These cookies are MINE!

I used to save the last of anything and everything for my family. These days, there’s no more Saving the last of everything for somebody else. There is no more thinking they might be hungry, and no more thinking of them before I think of myself. Those days are long gone.

It is about time they think of ME for a change. They need to be saving things for me without me having to ask for it. They should remember to save me some of whatever it is they are eating or drinking.

It took a long time for me to get to this place in time. I took the long way around to get here, like I have done with far too many things in life.

Sounds selfish?! This is not as selfish as some might think because “they” are all grown. There is no need for me to think of them first, last, and everywhere in between anymore.

I even wrote a poem called “The Last Cookie” in my self-published book in 2008. I’ll share that poem with you…one day…if I don’t forget.

Do you have little ones? Do you find yourself saving food, drinks, and snacks for them? What are your thoughts on saving “stuff” for others instead of eating/drinking it yourself?
