Surely there was a shift

in life all about him

as Reality seemed to drift

voices singing hymns

or that’s how he heard it

happy not a comfy fit

for other people feared

so many disappeared!

Recollected insects around

now few to be seen

objects in the clouds clear

hanging like shrouds

unearthly creatures spotted

without any faces

sullen sensations persisted

as more suicides listed!

What was reality anymore

were our thoughts

just implanted in our brains

doubting his own being

and what his senses showed

yet on his skin a bar code!
