A company spokesman told the BBC that they have notified all affected countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa. But Britain, the United States and Australia are not affected.

Lak Talis has issued three recall orders involving brands such as Picot, Milumel and Taranis.

Salmonella can cause severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, vomiting and severe dehydration and other symptoms, will also be serious life-threatening, especially for younger children, the risk is higher.

So far, there have been 35 reported cases of illness in France after babies have drank milk, and in Spain, 1 case has been confirmed. French authorities said on Friday (January 12) that Greece is investigating a possible case.

Lactalis  said it believes the contamination was caused by a refurbishment of its factory in Craon, northwestern France.

French Minister of Agriculture said during the investigation, the plant will be banned for sale outside the country indefinitely.

A spokesman for Lactalis said the company has suspended the production line and "carried out further cleaning, disinfection and safety measures" on "very cautious principles."

The French government has warned Lactalis that it expects to penalize the company.

Lactalis  is one of the world's largest dairy producers with annual sales of 17 billion euros (21 billion U.S. dollars). The group has 246 production sites in 47 countries around the world, employing 15,000 people in France alone.
