Russian official: Egypt pulls 35% of tourism traffic to Turkey

Taras Dimora, CEO of TUI Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), announced that after the opening of air links between Russia and tourist resorts in Egypt, 10-35% of Russian tourism traffic could be withdrawn to Turkey, according to the pricing policy in Egyptian hotels.

Speaking to reporters, Dimora said, according to the Russian news agency "Novosti" that in this case Egypt will compete in the summer certainly with Turkey but depends heavily on domestic price policy.

The CEO of TUI Russia and the CIS pointed out that this year, 4.3 million Russian tourists visited Turkey. This is a record number. It is even better than the pre-crisis years. Local prices have played a big role and much has been done to reduce prices as a kind of investment. Return of the tourist.

In addition, Turkey now expects that some 6 million Russians will come in 2018. The average price of the Turkish hotel is 60-70 USD per day, but compared with Egypt the price of the Egyptian hotel is $ 30 per night. Therefore, if the trend is opened There will be an increase in demand for it.

"If the Egyptian hotels want to raise the price of the night between 50 and 60 dollars, they will not earn a lot of money and will not compete with Turkey.
