The American Dream: Alive & Well in West Texas

Tags: dream road rush
I'm not a Texan. I'm a 55-country vagabond who has also been to every U.S. State save Washington & Oregon. I can tell you that courteous drivers are found in Knoxville, abundant beautiful women are on the Adriatic coast, vibrantly dressed people are in East Africa, luxurious meals and gracious hosts are in Israel, and it's safe to swim in the Amazon without getting devoured by pirhanas. Believe me when I tell you there's no place where entrepreneurial spirit is flourishing so much as in hashtagWestTexas / Southeast New Mexico. For five years, I've seen the construction of remote gas stations cause towns to spontaneously exist. 50-mile dirt roads traveled at 2AM like city highways during Rush hour. Bustling businesses in tents and trucks, illegally occupying the intersections of roads no one cares about, selling everything under the sun. I've seen twenty-something aged millionaires made overnight. Starting pay at McDonald's... $19/hr in one location... "always hiring." Until the increase in hotel developments last year, average nightly rates between $300 and $700. AirBnB explosion. If you have a Dream and you don't mind living in hell, come to WTX. It's the gold rush of our generation. hashtagoilfield
