My Inner Elf

There's something deep inside my soul that 'clicks' whenever Christmastime comes around.  I blow the dust off my old pipe, sit back with my notebook and scribble down gift ideas... that I can make.  The problem is that these days, I work more than a hundred hours every week and that leaves very little time on the side to play.  Also, until two months ago, I didn't have a wood shop.

So a week before Christmas, I got a wild hair.  With the evening off and just a few hundred bucks in my pocket, I called the owner of my storage unit and asked for a second unit.  Luckily, the one just beside my existing unit was available.  I measured the unit, made a cut list, then drove to Lowe's (which I prefer over Home Depot, because when Home Depot stores first started popping up around the country, I remember reading an article speculating about how HD's new store marketing plan was built around the encroachment of Lowe's successful locations... so Lowe's did the hard work and HD simply followed suit).  Bought some lumber and some flood lamps.  Already had some Romex wire laying around.

In all of about two hours, I had a rudimentary workshop.  That's all I needed.  Moved the table saw and some hand tools over from the unit next door.  Then I got to work with my Christmas projects!
