Last chance to watch the fascinating Super Moon of this year

Star gazing and watching the celestial events has always been very enchanting to me. Luckily this year was full of these events and Super Blue Moon in this August was one of them. I hope everyone was that lucky to see the Super Blue moon of this year on 30th August the closest supermoon of the year as the moon was just 221,954 miles (357,200 kilometers) away from Earth, as per astronomers a super blue moon occur during a period when the moon is closer to the Earth, making it appear almost imperceptibly larger in the sky. A super blue moon could happen twice within the same month, they can also be separated by periods as long as 20 years, according to NASA. The space agency also states that the average time between Super Blue Moons is 10 years.

So if you missed the Super blue moon last month, this may be the last opportunity to see the super moon or the Harvest moon today. The full harvest moon shined in the early morning hours of September 29, also marking the fourth and final supermoon of 2023.

September’s full moon reached its peak illumination around 5:58 a.m. on Friday, but it is expected to appear entirely visible through Saturday morning, according to NASA. According to astronomers, September’s full moon was expected to appear about 5% bigger and 13% brighter than the average full moon and the phenomenon occurs when the moon is within 90% of perigee — its closest approach to Earth in orbit.

Its called as Harvest moon as it occurs during the beginning of the fall or the autumnal equinox, which fell this year on September 23. This super moon is also special as you will be able to see several planets in the night sky including Jupiter and Saturn. The best time to make your observations will be shortly after dark, at a time when there is still a small trace of light.

Enjoy this night with your loved ones and don’t forget to share your experiences here in comments or Hayat’s Realm
