Big shock during festivals, wheat price reached 8 months high – The Daily Connection

Despite all the efforts of the Central Government, inflation is not showing any signs of decreasing. By the time one thing becomes cheap, the other thing becomes expensive. While the prices of tomatoes and green vegetables have fallen, now Wheat has once again become expensive. It is being said that even before the festive season, the price of wheat has reached its highest level in 8 months. In such a situation, the fear of increasing food inflation has once again increased. At the same time, traders say that due to import duty, the import of food items from foreign countries is being affected. Due to this, pressure is increasing on the government to remove import duty. In such a situation, to control inflation, the Central Government has to release food items like wheat and rice from the government stock from time to time.

Agricultural experts say that due to the festive season the demand for wheat has increased in the market. Whereas, due to increase in demand, the supply of wheat has been affected, due to which the prices have reached their highest level in 8 months. If this trend of price rise continues, retail inflation may increase further in the coming days. Because wheat is a grain from which many types of food items are made. If the price of wheat increases then it is natural that many food items including bread, roti, biscuits and cakes will become expensive.

Indian government has imposed 40% import duty on wheat.

The special thing is that in the national capital Delhi, an increase of 1.6% was recorded in the price of wheat on Tuesday. Due to this, the wheat rate reached Rs 27,390 per metric ton in the wholesale market, which is the highest level since February 10. It is being said that wheat prices have increased by about 22% during the last six months. At the same time, Roller Flour Millers Federation President Pramod Kumar S has demanded from the Central Government to remove duty on wheat import. He says that if the government removes import duty on wheat, its price may fall. In fact, the Indian government has imposed 40% import duty on wheat, which does not appear to have any immediate plan to remove or reduce it.

This will reduce the price of food items

At the same time, as of October 1, there was only 24 million metric tons of wheat in the government wheat stock, which is much less than the five-year average of 37.6 million tons. However, the Center has purchased 26.2 million tonnes of wheat from farmers in the crop season 2023, which is less than the target of 34.15 million tonnes. At the same time, the Central Government estimates that wheat production in the crop season 2023-24 will be 112.74 million metric tons. This will bring down the prices of food items.
