In a touching and heartwarming story, a granddaughter from New England took her 94-year-old grandmother, lovingly referred to as “Gigi,” on a journey across the country to reunite her with her 90-year-old Sister for what they knew might be their final meeting. “If we don’t see each other on this Earth, we’ll see you in heaven,” the younger sister expressed in the video, as shared by Stephanie Atkinson Shively.

The long-awaited reunion had been in the works for three years, a delay primarily attributed to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Gigi, whose actual name is Barbara Carolan, had not seen her sister Shirley since 2020 but was determined to make this last journey from New Hampshire to Nevada.
According to Shively, her grandmother, Carolan, confided, “I really think this will be the last time I see my sister.”
Shively, the granddaughter, recorded their heartfelt farewell and initially shared it on social media for their family to witness. Within hours, the video had garnered nearly 13 million views, with countless people reaching out to Shively, expressing how it inspired them to reach out to their loved ones.
Shively posed a thought-provoking question, asking, “What if this was your last time to see your loved one? Are you telling them the things that you want to tell them, or you’re saying the things that you want to say?” She urged people to cherish their moments with loved ones, as they might not come again.
“Don’t say goodbye!” Shirley exclaimed.
“I’m not going to! There’s no way I’m going to say goodbye to you,” Carolan lovingly reassured her sister.
