Demi Burnett Questions Usage of Past Footage in ‘BiP’ Trailer

Demi Burnett’s Unexpected Appearance in Bachelor in Paradise Trailer Raises Eyebrows

Demi Burnett, the well-known face from Bachelor Nation, found herself in an unexpected spotlight recently. The upcoming trailer for the ninth season of Bachelor in Paradise featured her, despite her absence from Mexico’s sandy shores for the past two years.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on August 26, the 28-year-old Burnett expressed her confusion. She shared a screenshot from the trailer, displaying old footage of her and Brendan Morais on a jet ski date from season 7 of the show. With a touch of humor, she wrote, “And do I get residuals? No.”

Fans swiftly joined in on the discussion. One social media user jokingly remarked, “They definitely thought no one would peep ,” while another quipped, “Budget cuts. Gotta reuse some footage.”

Even though Burnett won’t be seeking love on BiP this summer, she’s no stranger to the franchise. She made her debut on The Bachelor season 23 and subsequently appeared on two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. Her journey started in 2019 when she took a chance on Colton Underwood. After her departure during week 6, she returned the same year for season 6 of BiP.

During her time on season 6, Burnett made a significant personal revelation. On the beach, she bravely came out as bisexual. She opened up about her pre-show relationship with a woman named Kristian Haggerty. Later, Haggerty joined the show, and the season concluded with Burnett proposing to her. However, the engagement didn’t last, and they announced their split in October 2019.

Mexico’s enchanting atmosphere has witnessed its fair share of Bachelor love stories. While many couples have formed and even tied the knot on Bachelor in Paradise, few have stood the test of time. Notably, Marcus Grodd and Lacy Faddoul were among the early success stories, getting engaged in the finale of season 1 in 2014.

Burnett’s journey took her back to the Mexican beaches in 2021 for the seventh season of BiP. Reuniting with Brendan Morais, she embarked on another jet ski date, reminiscent of their previous encounter. Despite enjoying their time together, Morais explored other connections, leaving Burnett to pursue Kenny Braasch before her eventual departure.

In May 2022, Burnett made it clear that her Bachelor in Paradise journey had likely concluded. She stated, “I cannot go on Bachelor in Paradise again. No.” Adding a touch of humor, she noted, “Also, I’m way out of their league.”

Although she may not return to Bachelor Nation’s screen, Burnett maintains strong bonds with fellow franchise women. Expressing her admiration, she said, “I talk to the [Bachelor] women still and I do think we have such incredibly strong women and a lot of us are still single. I continue to be inspired by them because they’ve shown me heart in, like, whenever I’ve needed them in times, they’ve shown up for me.”

As anticipation grows for Bachelor in Paradise season 9, set to feature former Bachelorette Rachel Recchia, Blake Moynes, Brayden Bowers, and more, fans are gearing up for another exciting chapter. The premiere is scheduled for September 28 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
