The Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8 powered speaker is on display at CEDIA Expo 2023 in Denver, Colorado. It will go on sale in October, but in the meantime, visitors to the exhibition were able to listen to how Beolab 8 sounds on its own, how a stereo pair of two such speakers works, and even a whole group of six spatial sound systems: two each in the front, on the sides and on the ceiling.

This variety of placements is reinforced by the choice of mounting options for Beolab 8 - floor-standing, table-top and even ceiling-mounted. Beolab 8's flexibility is enhanced by beamwidth control, room compensation, adaptive tuning, and ultra-wideband technology. Beolab 8 is able to “sharpen” the radiation pattern to create a clear “sweet spot”. Magnetic sensors are used to adjust the system depending on the position and type of the front cover.

The aluminum body design from Factory 5 Bang & Olufsen is a cylinder that flows into a sphere and is complemented by either Danish-made wooden slats or a fabric front panel. Inside there is a combination of a 16 mm tweeter, a 3-inch midrange driver and a 5.25-inch woofer. The new product runs on the proprietary Mozart platform, using Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, and the Powerlink system ensures Beolab 8 is compatible with Bang & Olufsen products up to 30 years ago. 

Moreover, Beolab 8, according to the manufacturer, will comply with the Cradle-to-Cradle concept - the corresponding certification is expected. This is the principle of waste-free technology for the future, when over time the properties of an item gain new value, and obsolete parts, such as a streaming module, are easily replaced.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8 is available in Silver/Natural Aluminium, Gold Tone or Anthracite Black finishes, which are combined with light or dark oak and fabric grills. Apparently, it will be possible to get something completely exclusive to order.

In Europe, the minimum price for active wireless speakers Bang & Olufsen Beolab 8 will be 2,500 euros per unit.
