Musical Fidelity NuVista 800.2: 1 kilowatt into 2 ohms

Musical Fidelity, taken over by Pro-Ject's Heinz Lichtenegger, has introduced a nuvistor tube integrated amplifier, the NuVista 800.2. In fact, this is a variant of the 800 model, which was made until 2021, when production had to be discontinued due to a lack of components. In version ".2", the device, according to the manufacturer, has become "more powerful and better."

Outwardly, the novelty is distinguished from its predecessor by an updated display on the front panel. Inside you can find weighted (rewound) power transformers, and in general, the power circuits have been seriously modified. As well as the case, about which it is said that it is now “almost immune” to external vibrations.

The Musical Fidelity Nuvista 800.2 features locally isolated output stages like the 2009 TITAN. A high-current power capacitor now stands directly next to each output assembly, resembling, according to the company, a "V10" car engine. Drastically shortened power circuits are designed to reduce their impedance, thus improving transient response.

Comparison with V10 means that there are five such output assemblies on each side. In total, 800.2 is ready to give 330 watts per channel with speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms. If there are two-ohm acoustics, you can count on a kilowatt in the channel - and this is with a damping factor of 200. The integrated circuit switches four pairs of unbalanced RCAs and one balanced XLR input. Case color - silver or black.

The Musical Fidelity Nuvista 800.2 integrated amplifier costs 12,000 euros.
