Vikrant Rona (Action Movie)

Release

On July 28, 2022, Vikrant Rona received a 3D theatrical release; on September 2, 2022, ZEE5 made the film available online. The movie garnered neutral to unfavourable reviews from critics, but audiences responded well, making it the third-highest-grossing Kannada movie at the time of its release.

Plot

The movie begins with some kids reading books. One of them continues by reading a tale about a Brahmaraksha in the village of Kamarottu who was rumoured to abduct and kill kids. Because of this, kids were afraid to play outside after dark. The narrative continues with a little child being abducted under unsettling circumstances by an unsettling character.

We see the people the next day. Janardhan Gambira, an irritable landowner in the Karnataka hamlet of Kamarottu, resides there with his wife Santha “Shaku” and brother Eknath. Vishwanath Ballal, the son of Janardhan’s friend, travels to the hamlet with his wife and two kids, Aparna “Panna” and Mohanchandra “Munna”.

When Vishwanath informs Janardhan that Panna is engaged to Rakesh, Janardhan declines since the ancestral Kamarottu home is said to be haunted by the Brahma rakshasa. Vishwanath wishes to conduct the marriage there. This is because his son Sanjeev “Sanju” is accused of robbing the rural temple of its gems 28 years ago. It is revealed that Sanju, who had been away from the hamlet for 28 years, had informed his sick mother by telegraph that he would be visiting her shortly. Sanju, who is from London, comes into the community that same evening. He runs into Panna at the entrance to the Kamarottu house, and the two of them unintentionally discover Suresh Krishna’s decapitated corpse in the place well.

Following this occurrence, observant Detective Vikrant Rona visits the hamlet to investigate with his little daughter Guddi. While there, an attempt is made to assassinate Vikrant, but he manages to flee. After taking over, Vikrant arrives at the Kamarottu residence and, after checking the well, discovers the deceased cop’s pocketbook, which contains a one-dollar bill. Another attempt is attempted to assassinate Vikrant when he goes to the forest to find the offender, but he can repel the attackers, who then flee. When Vikrant attempts to apprehend them, he discovers a little boy hanging from a tree and a watch that belonged to Suresh Krishna. Vikrant finds a parchment with the following writing after examining the corpse: Gara Gara Gara Gaggara JarbaPira Nalkuri Netthara Parba. The corpse also had strange makeup on its face. Vikrant discovers that 14 other kids were also slain in the same way before. He finds out that practically all of them attended the village school, which is administered by Lawrence Pinto, a physical education instructor. He pays a visit to the school and makes the first inquiries. The P.E. teacher alerts Vikrant to a local smuggler named Moosa Kunni, and Vikrant finds out where he is staying from Rakkamma, the proprietor of a nearby liquor store.

Panna decides to look into the killings as well after being intrigued by the sudden turn of events. This causes her to discover Suresh Krishna’s head in a box and an elderly woman in the eerie family home. When Panna asks about the elderly woman going by the name of Deyyu, she learns that she is Nittoni’s mother. The caretaker of the village temple, Nittoni, was falsely accused by Janardhan and Vishwanath of stealing jewellery from the temple (which Sanju did). As a result, Nittoni, his wife, his two older children, Raghava and Madhava, and his younger daughter committed suicide out of shame, rendering Deyyu insane. Vikrant discovers that the smuggler, Moose Kunni, is the owner of the location where the kid was hanged. He takes him in for questioning, but it is fruitless. Panna and Munna come upon a devil-like creature in the wilderness who is holding his hands close to a fire and has a finger wound. She complains to Vikrant about it, but when she looks at his hand she notices a similar finger cut, which leads her to believe that Vikrant is the devil and may be related to Nittoni’s family. That evening, when she and Sanju arrive at Vikrant’s residence, they find Vikrant wearing a costume and sporting the same peculiar facial makeup. When Vikrant gets to Moose Kunni’s factory, he beats the employees and hangs and kills Moose Kunni. When Vikrant first meets Sanju and Panna, they question him about his presence at his residence and his role as the devil. Vikrant replies that he took on the role of the devil to draw the actual demon out of hiding. Later, everyone is astonished when Vikrant discloses a further significant detail regarding Sanju. Another effort to murder Vikrant is conducted at night, but it again fails. Based on the hint stated by Suresh Krishna on the 1 note, Vikrant concludes that Eknath and Moose Kunni, who was slain by Eknath, were responsible for Suresh Krishna’s murder since they were involved in smuggling. Vikrant discovers with Panna’s assistance that the dads of the deceased children were Madhava and Raghava’s classmates who were Nittoni’s offspring. According to evidence, these students attacked Madhava and Raghava the night of the village attack on Nittoni, bullying and degrading them for belonging to a lower caste and having a low social position. Panna also says that according to an elderly villager, Nittoni’s family’s bodies were discovered next to the children’s bodies with the same encrypted writing. According to the elderly villager, the message also had a further phrase pledging to end the lives of those responsible for the murder of Nittoni’s family.

Additionally, Vikrant and Panna learn that just four remains were discovered when the Nittoni family was killed, leading them to believe that Madhava, who is still alive, may be responsible for the killings. Vikrant first encounters Lawrence Pinto on another occasion and notices a Shiva tattoo on his breast, which leads him to believe something fishy is going on. He visits Pinto’s home to question him, but Pinto manages to flee by using the route the local taxi driver says Vikrant would take him to the deserted temple where Nittoni formerly worked. Panna and Munna speculate in the Kamarottu home that since Sanju stole the jewels and now the killer has killed the children of all of Madhava’s classmates, Sanju, Panna, and Munna will be the next victims. This is because their fathers also participated in the persecution of Nittoni’s family. Panna and Munna are abruptly kidnapped by an unidentified guy and terrorized by Deyyu. When Vikrant arrives at the deserted temple, he discovers the names and possessions of every deceased kid. The girl who is seen to be kidnapped at the beginning turns out to be one of the victims, and it is revealed that Vikrant’s daughter was also one of the victims; her presence with him throughout the film was just his post-traumatic delusion. Vikrant’s wife was put in a coma as a result of the kidnapping and murder episode, and he had travelled to Kamarottu specifically to look into these killings. As one of Madhava’s classmates, Vikrant is revealed to have neither actively tormented Madhava nor Raghava nor attempted to shield them from other bullies.

For this reason, Madhava, who is on a quest to wreak revenge on those directly/indirectly guilty of mistreating his family, has caused him to personally lose his wife and daughter Geethanjali “Guddi” in his hands. Lawrence Pinto is indeed Madhava, as Vikrant correctly inferred. Vikrant is knocked unconscious by Madhava, who then drags him down a tunnel beneath the earth where Panna and Munna are going to be hanged. Here it is revealed that as they were passing through the hamlet for marriage, his wife was attacked and his daughter was slain.

Vikrant discovers that Raghava, Madhava’s younger brother, is also alive after regaining consciousness. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Sanju appears and reveals that he is truly Raghava. On the same night that his parents and sister died, Raghava, who was impersonating Sanju, arrested and murdered the real Sanju for stealing the temple’s jewellery. Madhava and Deyyu are slain as a result of a battle between Raghava and Madhava that Vikrant, who is furious, starts. Vikrant and Raghava engage in combat, with Vikrant ultimately winning. He exacts revenge on Raghava by killing him and throwing him down a waterfall. Panna and Munna are reunited with Vishwanath, where Vikrant, at Janardhan’s request, maintains Sakhu’s knowledge of Raghava/Sanju’s passing a secret.
