Atiku inquiries Oil refineries owned by NNPCL were privatized after renovation

Atiku, in a statement on Tuesday, criticized the former President, Muhammadu Buhari's administration for not privatizing Nigeria's inactive oil refineries earlier.

The PDP's presidential candidate in the 2023 election expressed concern over the recent $1.5 billion Rehabilitation, emphasizing his longstanding advocacy for reforms in Nigeria's oil sector and other areas of the economy.

Atiku highlighted his consistent calls for breaking the infrastructure monopoly and involving both foreign and domestic investors in funding and management.

He questioned the decision not to privatize Refineries earlier and expressed reservations about the $1.5 billion rehabilitation loan, suggesting that selling the refinery before rehabilitation would have been a better option to avoid debt burdens.

Atiku called on the NNPCL to provide satisfactory explanations to Nigerians regarding the benefits of their approach to privatization.
