Traffic jams in Apapa and Ijora: LASTMA seizes 78 unlawfully parked trucks

Another 78 unlawfully parked trucks carrying containers have been seized by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on top of the High Bridge near Lilly Pond, heading towards Apapa and the Sifax axis of Ijora (Olopa).


The enforcement activities were headed by the General Manager, Bakare Oki Olalekan, in collaboration with pertinent security agencies, according to a statement from Lastma spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq.


Taofiq stated, "The Enforcement Actions were conducted to guarantee seamless and easy traffic for Lagosians throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations and beyond."


Additionally, Taofiq affirmed that the enforcement actions on Sunday morning began at 12 a.m. and ended at 7 a.m.


Olalekan stated that there will be no tolerance for careless parking or obstructions in the axis and that enforcement actions will be ongoing.


Additionally, he took use of the occasion to urge drivers in Lagos State to take responsibility for the road and to notify LASTMA of any abandoned or broken-down trailer or truck by calling the agency's hotlines at 08100565860, 08129928490, 08129928515, and 08129928593.
