NPA will repress illicit container stripping

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has issued a strong warning against the unauthorized stripping of containers along the port access road.

NPA Managing Director, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko, emphasized that the authority would take decisive action against those involved in this practice.

During an unscheduled visit to Tin-Can Island Port, he inspected container Stripping yards and port access roads to ensure trucks were not causing disruptions.

Truckers engaged in illegal stripping face the risk of being delisted from the Electronic Call-up System (Eto) platform.

Bello-Koko highlighted the negative impact of stripping outside designated yards, causing traffic disruptions and chaos.

The NPA will increase vigilance and monitoring to address this issue. Proposals for well-equipped stripping yards are under consideration to discourage illegal roadside stripping.

The NPA will collaborate with government agencies and the Lagos state government to prevent such practices along the port access road.

Stringent measures, including temporal shutdowns and non-renewal of land leases, will be applied to maintain orderliness and safety in the port environment.
