The President urged participants in the business sector to contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy in his opening remarks at the annual summit, stressing that cooperation is the only way for the nation to advance.
Experts who spoke at the summit said that they were hopeful that the Dangote Refinery will provide Nigeria's economy a big boost and that the country was waiting for it.
Group Managing Director of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Olakunle Alake, said it was encouraging that the administration led by President Tinubu understood the role of the private sector while reiterating the need for collaboration during a panel discussion themed, "Unlocking our Competitive Advantage."
According to Mr. Alake, Nigeria needs expand its manufacturing sector and overall economy in order to be able to participate fully in the Africa and Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).
He cited inadequate infrastructure, a lack of necessary skills, and a weak productive sector as barriers to the smooth launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).
Even while he insisted that the AFCFTA was not the answer to Nigeria's economic woes, he asserted that the nation might derive the most benefits from it by encouraging the expansion of the manufacturing industry.
Mr. Alake expressed sorrow that doing business among West African nations remains challenging and asked governments of those nations to resolve the issues impeding the implementation of ECOWAS protocols.
In the continent, he pushed for better border, port, and customs services.
