Police in Kogi are looking into an officer attack at a political event.

A Police officer was attacked at a political gathering in the state, according to Kogi Commissioner of Police CP Bethrand C. Onuoha.

William Ovye Aya, a spokesman for the Kogi Police, revealed this late on Thursday night in a statement regarding the popular video.

As a result of the political conflict in the Idah region of Kogi state, a police officer was seen in the video lying in a pool of his own blood.

"The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal inquiry Department has been instructed to initiate an inquiry," Aya stated. "The Commissioner of Police while denouncing the event highlighted that.

The spokesperson stated that in order to maintain a secure environment for the electoral process, the CP emphasized the Command's unflinching commitment to continue engaging the important stakeholders in Election Security Management.

He continued by saying that the Police are committed to giving all political parties an equal playing field as they engage in activities like campaigns, rallies, and processions.

Aya said that the police commissioner had issued a harsh warning to potential troublemakers to avoid engaging in such behavior if they were hell-bent on inciting violence and undermining the legitimacy of the Kogi election.

Aya further said that the Police, working in coordination with other security agencies, will take decisive action against anyone found interfering with the voting process.
