Chira is chosen by Tinubu to serve as the future federation's auditor general.

Speaking to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in the United States was President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria.

The appointment of Shaakaa Chira as the Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF) was given the president's blessing on Friday.

Ajuri Ngelale, the spokeswoman for Tinubu, revealed this in a statement, adding that the nomination was made in accordance with the FCSC's recommendation.

"By the powers vested in him by Section 86 of the 1999 Constitution (Amended), President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Shaakaa Chira as the substantive Auditor-General of the Federation, as recommended by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC)," Ngelale said.

Ngelale noted that following a screening process by the FCSC, the President gave his approval for Chira's nomination.

He claimed that among all qualifying applicants for the position, the Commission had determined that Chira was the most qualified and had also received the highest exam result.

"President Bola Tinubu expects the new Auditor-General to justify the confidence reposed in him," Ngelale said.

The spokesperson added that Tinubu has urged the incoming AGF to live up to the high expectations that Nigerians have for the implementation of his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
