The purported attacks on the Ayilamo and Mbachohon Communities in the state's Logo and Gwer-West Local Government Areas have been denounced by Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia.

In a press release written by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, and provided to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Wednesday, the Governor expressed his displeasure.

The statement denounced the malicious actions of the attackers, who were thought to be herders, and who it said brutally maimed and killed innocent people for no apparent cause.

It characterized Benue as an agrarian civilization with an economy predicated mostly on growing and managing agricultural land.

The statement continued, "We cannot see our people being killed daily on their farms and in their villages for a very mysterious reason.

The governor allegedly threatened to keep going until such heinous deeds are stopped, according to Kula.

Additionally, he said that the Governor Expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks and urged security officials to find the attackers.

Additionally, it urged the state's youth and traditional leaders to exercise caution and alert security officials to any suspicious activity.

According to NAN, the state Police Command has confirmed that five people died in the attack at Logo, but the number of casualties in Gwer West has not yet been determined.
