IYN applauds Tinubu and NNPC for extending the pipeline surveillance contract with Tantita

The Ijaw Youths Network has expressed their appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the decision to extend the pipeline protection contract granted to Tantita Security Services Limited for an additional duration of three years.

In a recent statement, the IYN Coordinator, Frank Ebikabo, and Secretary, Federal Ebiaridor, expressed their view on the President's exceptional leadership in advancing the common welfare of Nigeria.

The group asserted that the President's choice to disregard a campaign of defamation engineered by a self-interested group was an additional validation of the courageous endeavors undertaken by Tantita Security Limited to combat the senseless pilferage of the country's oil reserves.

According to the IYN, the decision to renew the contract, while facing a significant campaign against the firm, demonstrates the President's unwavering commitment to enhancing efforts in combating the long-standing issue of oil theft, which has adversely impacted the nation's economy for an extended period.

The group also expressed appreciation for the exemplary demonstration of resolve and loyalty by Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, in addressing the persistent challenges related to combating oil theft and economic sabotage within the nation.

The group asserted that Kyari's choice to involve local security organizations in addressing the complex economic issues confronting the nation was a highly effective move, as seen by the undeniable achievements of Tantita Security Services Limited.

The IYN has strongly advised the NNPC GCEO to disregard a faction of dissatisfied militants who are attempting to manipulate him through media channels, notwithstanding his commendable adherence to ethical principles.

It was observed that under the leadership of Kyari, the NNPC fulfilled its anticipated role by providing crucial remedies to address a severe crime committed by a wealthy criminal syndicate that specifically targeted the economic foundation of the nation.

The attention of security authorities, particularly the Department of State Services, was drawn by a group known as the Supreme Egbesu Freedom Fighters of Niger Delta. This organization has issued threats to the GCEO of NNPC regarding the contract renewal.

The individuals expressed the need for the Supreme Egbesu Freedom Fighters of Niger Delta to clarify their current involvement in armed conflict or their participation in the President Amnesty Programme to the Nigerian public.

The individual strongly advised the Director General of the DSS to take note of the group's potential for engaging in acts of sabotage inside the region, as their actions and statements strongly imply such intentions.

The aforementioned assertion emphasizes the collective determination to actively resist and prevent the occurrence of undesirable events. It underscores the intention to collaborate with other militant groups, prominent former militants, and stakeholders representing various ethnic nationalities. The objective is to exhaust all feasible means in order to thwart the efforts of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The alleged involvement of Mele Kyari, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, and Senator Heineken Lokpobri, in corrupt activities, together with the individuals associated with the villa cabals who have purportedly been influenced by substantial financial incentives, warrants a thorough investigation to ascertain the veracity of these claims.

They urged security agencies to ensure that those behind the threat are closely monitored and arrested to avert possible targeting of the nation’s critical economic assets in the Niger Delta.

The Ijaw Youth Network expresses its appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and his team for their decision to extend the pipeline protection contract granted to Tantita Security Services Limited. The members of the IYN who have observed the commitment of the Tantita team in combating the unparalleled misappropriation of the country's resources have the belief that the President is prepared to directly address the dangerous group of individuals involved in oil theft in Nigeria.Through this decision, particularly in light of the ongoing coercion and influence exerted by critics employed by affluent and important individuals involved in oil theft, the President and his administration have demonstrated praiseworthy commitment to the welfare of Nigerian citizens. We express our admiration for him.The IYN expresses its admiration for the Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPCL, MALLAM Mele Kyari, for his unwavering commitment in addressing the issue of oil theft in Nigeria. We strongly encourage him to disregard certain dissatisfied individuals who have inundated the public sphere in an attempt to extort him. Kyari's recommendation for contract renewal, in light of the significant achievements accomplished by Tantita, is a commendable decision.

We urge the Department of State Services to investigate a potential threat posed by a faction known as the Supreme Egbesu Freedom Fighters of Niger Delta. This organization has issued threats towards the NNPCL GCEO and the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Sen Heineken Lokpobri, regarding a renewed contract that followed the established protocol for contract award and renewal.

The aforementioned statement should be subject to investigation, and the individuals responsible for its content should be questioned.
