3 senatorial chairmen, the Assembly's lone member, the head of Kogi ADC, and Abejide's supporters switch to the APC

The African Democratic Party (ADC) in Kogi State has experienced a significant political shift as its Chairman, Kingsley Oga, along with some party members from the three senatorial districts, have decided to desert to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Friday, the leaders and members of the ADC Party made the decision to dissolve their whole organizational framework and merge with the APC party. They also expressed their support for Usman Ododo, the APC candidate, in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 11th.

Honorable Idowu Ibikunle, the sole representative of the ADC party in the State Assembly, holds the position of representing the Yagba West State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly. Notwithstanding his affiliation with the ADC, he has expressed his endorsement of the APC candidate and intends to actively engage in extensive campaigning on his behalf.

In his address to party members during the defection event on Friday, Oga asserted his role as the state chairman of the ADC. However, he acknowledged that the ADC members in the state had made the collective decision to withdraw their support for the ADC candidate and instead rally behind Ododo.

As to his assertion, Usman Ododo, the candidate representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), is deemed the most acceptable among the pool of gubernatorial contenders vying for the Kogi State governorship in the upcoming election scheduled for November 11th.

According to the speaker, a committee consisting of five individuals was established earlier to evaluate all the candidates participating in the election. The report generated by this committee determined that Ododo is the most suitable candidate to be chosen in the forthcoming election.

The speaker highlighted the importance of building upon Governor Yahaya Bello's notable accomplishments in several sectors. It was mentioned that Ododo will carry on the progress made by Governor Bello.

The Chairman of the ADC expressed admiration for Governor Bello's notable accomplishments throughout the duration of his seven-and-a-half-year term in office.

Additionally, he highlighted that based on the observations and information available regarding the APC gubernatorial candidate, there is a strong likelihood of his successful performance upon assuming the role of the state's governor.

The Honourable Idowu Ibikunlen, who serves as the representative for the Yagba West State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, has stated that he participated in the electoral process as a candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and emerged victorious in his campaign.

The individual stated that, although their affiliation with the ADC, both they and their followers collectively resolved to cast their votes in favor of the APC candidate during the gubernatorial election.

The three chairpersons of the ADC Senate also delivered speeches, expressing their dedication to rallying their constituents inside the ADC to vote collectively in support of the APC candidate.
